Sassy Sister

I have wanted to post this for a while. It is nothing really, kind of boring... so you really can stop reading. I just want to go back someday and remember how sassy our little sister is. The BIG girl bed, I think, was the death of us. It gave her entirely too much freedom. She thinks she is big, and thus might as well be handed the keys to the car so she can go about her merry way.
When she decides to do something, she does it.
When she needs to potty, she strips down naked and goes. No help from mommmy (even though she has to CLIMB the potty and walk around the rim to sit on it). I do not know she has gone until she comes to me naked to tell me her business.
When she decides the dog needs out... she lets her out THE FRONT DOOR. We had to buy the dog a collar with a tag on it so we could put our phone number on it because someday Stella is just going to run after one of the passerbys and not just to visit our neighbor dogs Turbo and Sophie.
When she decides that she wants food, she gets it. We have found her scaling the top shelf of the pantry hanging on for dear life, but not saying a word because she knows the good stuff is up on the top shelf.
When she decides to take all of brothers stickers he just got at a birthday party and stick them all over her body just to hear him scream, she does it and smiles.
When she decides she wants to blow the bubbles that are out on the deck, she goes (most of the time naked) and climbs on the table gets the bubbles and opens them up and pours most of them out trying to get the stick.
When she decides that she does not feel like napping, she just gets out of bed and plays... no matter how many times I tell her the consequences of doing that.
When she decides that she does not feel like sleeping, she comes downstairs and sits in a quiet chair so no one can see or hear her and she just stays there (for 30 minutes) until Daddy goes to get something and she scares the poop out of him.
When she is the first to wake up and decides that everyone else needs to be up, she goes in their room and tells them to "GIT UP".
When she wants to wet her hair down and brush it, she does... but gets the entire bathroom wet in the process.

She is VERY independent. And I don't mind that at all. The problem I seem to be having is that I guess the boys would dictate to me what they were doing... like "Mom, I am going to go blow bubbles" or "I am going potty" or "Stella wants out". But she is saving her words (evidently for our teenage battles) because she just quietly goes about her day doing whatever she pleases and is keeping mommy on her toes just trying to stay 2 steps behind her.

Miss Eliza, if my brothers can climb a tree so can I!

Funny

We were having a little photo session before school the other day. It just so happened that the trash collector came by during out photo shoot. Eliza was terribly disturbed. She thought that these men were taking our trash cans and called out to Silas to stop them.

I told you eating too much Easter candy would rot your teeth out

Monday morning, I woke up with Callan screaming as he ran down the stairs. I was startled out of my sleep, sat up making every effort to throw myself out of the nest I have made for myslef in my Sleep # bed. As he arrives in my room he screams out "MY TOOTH IS LOOSE, MY TOOTH IS LOOSE". Mind you, this is something that we have been checking regularly because in his opinion you just cannot make it though Kindergarten without losing one tooth. Evidentally we had not checked in a while because not only was it loose, it was hanging by a thread and so was the one beside it. I pretended to act all official and tell him we had to take serious action because all the candy he had recently consumed was causing them to rot out and soon they would all just fall out, and that "I told you so".

We went about our morning routine of getting ready when I asked if I could just try one time to get it out. We had five minutes to spare before the bus arrived. He let me tug at it once, but then ran around screaming for a minute. Determined to have a "show-n-tell" at school, he braved a hard tug again and it popped right out. If I could have captured his face... priceless. He was beyond excited. He also decided that it was in his favor to save the other wiggly tooth for another day so that he could have back to back visits (and money).

That night the tooth fairy came to visit and gave him a $5 for his tooth. (Yes, I know it is steep... it is only for the first tooth- the first one is just special). The only problem was that either the tooth fariy played a mean trick and shoved the money down by his feet or the wild sleeper found it during the night and it got tossed like his sheets do. So morning number 2 and we wake up in another mad scream because "The tooth fairy STOLE my tooth and did not leave me a thing." (There is something to be said about those little tooth pillows) I assured him that the tooth fairy had come and we just had to search for the prize. I found it at almost the foot of the bed (and that is no easy task for this balloon belly on the top bunk). All was well again with the world.

We left the other wiggly tooth alone for a while, checking it every now and then to make sure it was not a swallowing hazzard. Then last night before his game, I asked if I could have a little tug to see if it would come on out. It was so ready it almost jumped out into my fingers. He is so proud. He has been waiting FOR-EV-ER for a chance at a loose tooth and he gets 2 in one week (and a sweet little lisp too).

Easter Recap

Our Easter started last Saturday with a trip to Gallatin. My grandfather had hip replacement surgery and I wanted to get up there to see him. Nommie and Gandie were also having an egg hunt at their church, and we thought it would be fun.

After the Egg Hunt we went for a visit with Pa and Muber and enjoyed the nice fresh air outside playing in the yard.

Then, this past Saturday we went to visit family in Springfield. Baylor was supposed to have a tournament in Sparta... but with all the terrible storms that had come through the day before, it got cancelled. I was glad that Baylor and Daddy got to come with us. We do not get to go to Nanny's much... it was very nice to spend time with everyone. The kids had a blast hunting eggs in Nanny's yard.

This is all of the great-grandkids. (Except our Jackson who is in Florida)

And no trip to Nanny's is complete without a little time on her golf-cart. I think they all got a chance to drive it this year. Gandie was a good sport spending time with them and letting them all take him on a little drive.

We had hoped that the Easter Bunny would come visit us a little early like he had the past two years, but the bunny was too pooped to hop!!! So we woke up a little earlier on Sunday morning to enjoy our baskets. I absolutely love their hair and faces when they first wake up.

After church we were off to the Jones Egg Hunt at the Burwood Community Center.

WHEW... finally. It literally took me off and on all day to get all of this on here.

Easter Chicks

Blogger is not letting my post my "motherload" of pictures... so I thought I would give you one of my Easter Chick-a-dees in their Sunday dress until Blogger decides to be nice. I let them each pick what "outfit" they wanted.(Well, except for Eliza or it would have been a Hello Kitty shirt) It really makes me smile to see their personality in what they chose.

Poll time

I think on the right should be a little poll. I know all the names look pretty identical, but I think this is what we have narrowed it down to (Although there are a few others I have not let go of yet).

Since I would like to finish the name for the baby, and Brent is in no hurry... I asked if I could poll. He said yes. I am wanting to get a monogrammed gown for him to come home from the hospital in.

Let me explain. Cruz is the name that we have pretty much always been set on. That is what we will call him and what the kids already call him. The rest has been hard. If you remember, I was looking for a name with L and A in it. I also struggle with putting a name he will not go by first because we have had issues with it before with Baylor (Nicolas Baylor). However, Brent's name is William Brent. His dad's name is William and his grandfather's name was William (and maybe before that too). When Brent and I started talking children talk and names talk, he wanted to use the name William and pass it down. But, before we were married, William was used on our first nephew and we have stayed away from using it(even though he does not go by William).

We have played the name game for months, and nothing seems to fit. Nothing fits with Cruz... and nothing fits our "fancy". So we took a look back at William. I think we both prefer using a form of William rather than just William. That is why we like Liam (even though we have a friend whose child is named Liam). BUT the other day we thought of Williamson and if you put it all together it says "Cruz... William's son" and that is who he will be... William's son.

So cast your vote, and hopefully next week it won't be a totally new list. =)

Promise

There is something about a rainbow. They make you stop and stare, in awe and wonder. It is such a magnificent display. Even with the storm still brewing right underneath it, you cannot help but find comfort and joy in its presence.

Chicks!

Callan's class got the opportunity to hatch chicks. They had them for several weeks where the kids had to take turns turning the eggs under the lamps in the incubator each day. The day they hatched, the kids got to watch the chicks on the "smart board" at school use thier little beak tooth to break out of their shell and fumble their way into the world. These pictures were taken when the chicks were 2 days old.
Callan shared his chick with a friend and he said his name was "Joey Nick Chick". He was very proud and it was a great learning experience for them.
