For all of my bloggy friends that have been following Susannah's story go check out what her mom has to say about her surgery that happened today.
Room for at least one more
I spent some time with Susannah and her momma last night, and this verse pretty much sums up this little girl.
"Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!" 2 Corinthians 9:15

Ashley and the...
Have you ever read the book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" ? It is hilarious, and a fun read to kids who feel like they have had a rough day. Alexander, the little boy in the book spends a whole day with not a thing going his way. In fact, he just wants to move to Australia.
I am kind of having one of those MONTHS. I do not know if I am in over my head, I do not know if I am losing my touch, I do not know if I just need to STOP for a while and put it all in perspective. But I feel like I am losing control. I am not a control freak THAT BAD. I mean I can go to bed with dishes in the sink, and some toys scattered about. But lately, I cannot keep up with anything.
Case in point. This morning, I head out the door to go about my day. No purse. In fact, I forgot my purse going to church last night assuming I had just left it at home. When I got home I had 4 mouths to feed, and bathe, and get to bed in a matter of 14 minutes... I forgot to look for it. So when I retraced my steps this morning (as I have seemed to be doing a lot of lately) I knew I used it at Target yesterday. BINGO! I remember seeing my purse in the cart on the way to the cart return. My brain went on, in the next direction and I left it sitting there. I called Target THIS MORNING when I realized it was missing, and they had it. I ran to Target to pick it up and everything was just as I left it. THANK YOU MR./MRS. KINDHEARTED CITIZEN. If I knew who you were, I would surprise you with something.
I do not know what is wrong with me, I just cannot seem to keep up lately. I just cannot keep it together and that is not like me. I mean, I have a lot on my mind (deep thought mode) and a lot on my plate with the kiddos, their 2 schools, room mom responsibilities, school projects/homework, baseball, church choir, baseball, preschool choir, baseball, Sunday School, mom duties... and so much more. Usually, I can juggle it all but right now, it's not really working for me.
Today, I totally get Alexander. I cannot wait for this little phase to end so I can have a fresh start. I need it, or I just might lose it (or move to Australia).

5 weeks!!!
I am not a frequent E-bay user. However, I discovered that you can purchase individual Lego Men from E-bay. Lego Men make my Callan a very happy boy. He could play with them for hours. So, for his back to school prize I purchased him this...

(and I think a few other men, but it has been so long now I do not remember). I ordered them on August 23rd, 5 weeks later still no Legos. I e-mailed the seller, and to quote him "Shipped August 26th, please be patient a few more days." Seriously? Where do you live? So, I went and looked. I ordered the silly Legos from a man in HONG KONG! Seriously?? Evidentally, there is a person swimming them here to the States. I had no idea that it could take 5 weeks. So much for a back to school little surprise. Lesson learned, check sellers location before ordering.

SSSIIISSSSSSYYY!!!!
I could just GET her. If the girl could talk, my life might be a lot simpler. When I say that I have searched for the DS like crazy. I mean I have searched compulsively. For example... this drawer right here, beside the place that Baylor likes to play his DS. I think I have shuffeled through it at least 17 times. Today, I decided to do it for the 18th time. (It is a catch-all drawer)

As I sat wracking my brain on where in the world the DS could have gone, I stared at that little box that says "Our Wedding" . It occured to me that my video was not in there because it is still in my bedroom where the kids watched it back a while ago. So, that meant that the little box is empty. And if I know Sissy (as the boys call her), then I know that things do not remain empty for long. I opened the box and this is what I found.

YES! I will be getting a FULL nights sleep tonight!

Things you should know...
First and foremost, Susannah is scheduled to have a heart cath procedure between 9 and 10 AM (CST) this morning. This procedure will determine IF she is a candidate for any corrective surgeries, or if she has gone too long and the damage is beyond repair. LET US storm the gates of Heaven with petitions on behalf of this child. I KNOW that God has a plan for her life, AND I KNOW that her life will bring Him the glory.
Now on to family matters:
Tasha has been found. Unfortunately, it was because now we are on the hunt for a missing Nintendo DS. That DS is truly missing. I think it was taken in the car and possibly knocked out of Baylor's seat into the floor and then into a parking lot somewhere. I am just guessing, but I like to convince my brain the answer is there somewhere because I am losing sleep over this DS. Literally I wake up thinking about where it might be, and dream about it being taken by a team of flaming hot air balloons???

Eliza does not eat breakfast. I have been giving her Pediasure for a few weeks now, because the girl is braking the bank with me buying EVERY breakfast item available just to see if she will eat it. This morning, she went to the fridge and asked for these. (I told you I was trying EVERYTHING)... therapy please... my name is Ashley, and I let my daughter eat Vienna Sausages for breakfast.

Last night we had parent teacher conferences. It is nice when the teacher tells you that "It is nice to have an EASY conference". Baylor is doing awesome in school. He is excelling in everything. His reading level (he is in 2nd grade) is between 3.3 and 4.6 (that is 3rd grade 3rd month, and 4th grade 6 month). They pull him out of class every day for a special math group for kids who are ahead. If you ever wondered if you needed to hold your kid back because of a late birthday (August 13th) Baylor is the walking billboard for it! We are so proud. (No he does not wear glasses, these are sunglasses with missing lenses. He thought it was fun to wear them)

We also had a conference with Callan's teacher. She really loves the kids. Callan had to "pull his monkey" for acting out this week. It was his first and he did not like it. She did say he is getting "more comfortable" and "is very social". He seems to be right on track with what he needs to be doing. I guess he has learned that he does need the letter P after all. I help out in his class on Thursdays and I am really enjoying getting to know the kids and his sweet teacher.

This little man CRACKS ME UP. I told him to GO PLAY... and this was his choice of things to play with. He packed a suitcase with all his PJ's, took it to a corner and spent 30 minutes layering them all on. I stacked them like this for the picture so you could see how many he had on ( I also had to bribe him with a box of Nerds to take his picture).
OH THE FUN we have in the Jones house!!!

Look Who is HOME!
I got to see this precious, beautiful, amazing face in person last night... and blow her a kiss. Her family is forever changed, we are forever changed! If you have not been following, go check them out here. Today, they go to the cardiologist and begin the next leg of the journey. But, I have no doubt that God has gone ahead of them and is preparing the way for this angel.

Heart Walk
Saturday is the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk. We walk every year in honor of our friend Abigail who was born with a very serious, life threatening, heart condition. Through the grace of God and the wonderful medical professionals at our local Vanderbilt Children's Hospital; Abigail is living life to the fullest and is a beautiful, bright, perfectly sassy, little angel.

I just realized that you can make donations on-line to the American Heart Association. Abigail's parents, Rob and Robyn, raise funds to support the Heart Association and continually give to both the Heart Association, and to Vanderbilt.
This year a new meaning is added to the Heart Walk for Rob and Robyn. Charlie and Leslie opened their hearts to a child with a heart condition as a result of watching the faith and perserverance of this family with Abigail. Susannah is coming home this week to be a forever part of Charlie and Leslie's family, and our faith family at TSC. Susannah's heart condition is much like Abigail's was (and is) before her surgeries. Susannah has a tough road ahead, and Rob and Robyn know that path all too well. In fact, they know that Abigail will continue to be monitored and will have more surgeries in the future.
Will you give with Abigail's Angels and support the American Heart Association and all they do both right here in our lives and around the world?
You can go to THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION web site. Click on the DONATE button. Type in the name ROBYN ELLIS. Robyn's name will come up along with Abigal's Angels. You can click there to donate. All donations are tax deductable... and changing lives!

The case of the missing Tasha
Meet Tasha...

Eliza has latched on to Tasha and she has become a favorite friend. Until last Thursday. I am pretty sure that Tasha made it home from MDO. In fact, in my head I can picture her sitting on the floor on top of "Taggie B" in the kitchen. I even can picture in my head, Eliza grabbing Tasha and taking off to play. Now, there is NO Tasha anywhere... and I have searched HIGH and LOW. I have checked every secret hiding place, cleaned out cabinets, looked under beds, in the couch, above the cabinets, and even checked the freezer. NO TASHA. Eliza has spent the weekend asking for her (only she calls her Elmo, because every character to her is "Elmo"). I know she is asking for her because in my attempt to appease her with Dora, Uniquia, and others I get the "no-no" head shake. The OCD portion of me is going crazy trying to find Tasha. I wake up with ideas on Tasha's whereabouts. When I am doing my only alone thinking (in the shower) I have a few "AHHH-HAA'S" on her locale... NOTHING. She has disappeared into the Jones' BLACK HOLE.
I was getting nervous that she would not turn up, and that we would need her for MDO tomorrow. Because even though she does great at school, she always carries Tasha in with her under her arm... and we are doing so good, I do not want to mess it up. So, what did we do today? We ran to Books-A-Million and bought a new Tasha.
Right now, Eliza and her new Tasha are fast asleep. But the mission still remains... WHERE DID TASHA GO?

Favorite Foto Friday
It's that time of year again. Time for dinners on the run and a washing machine working overtime to wash all that red clay dirt out of uniforms.
Aaaahhhh, who am I kidding?
I LOVE IT! If I was created to be anything, it was a mom who loves to watch her boys play baseball.

Can you tell which one is INTENSE and which one is just trying to keep his eye on the ball?

PRAYERS
Hey guys... I mentioned my friends Leslie and Charlie on Friday. They were to meet their daughter yesterday. They did, unfortunately it was in a hospital and things are not looking good. Will you please pray for this family and that somehow, someway the red tape of adoption would just disappear and they could get their daughter home quickly so that she might be treated how she needs to be treated. It is hard to explain in my words what her condition is... please go read their blog and encourage them.

Because I do what I am told
Last night, Brent and I went to a fundraising Luau at a friends house to support their father. Their father is Monty Lankford and he is running for US Congress against the seated Lincoln Davis. Well, at this little Hawaiian shin-dig, I met Marsha Blackburn. My friend, Marsha told me that I was to go home and get on my blog and tell all you people out there that you should vote for Mr. Monty. I am a rule follower, I do what I am told, and I am not going to let Mrs. Marsha down.
You people (especially in Tennessee) need to go here and learn all about Mr. Monty. I can tell you all day long what a great man he is, what a wonderful family he has, and how he has great plans not to CHANGE Congress, but to give it DIRECTION. I can also tell you how when I shared the dinner table with him a few weeks ago, he taught my kids some great tricks, and fed my oldest son (off his very own fork) his first fried green tomato. Go check him out for yourself, and come election day, let's send this man to Washington... he will do Tennessee proud, and it would be an honor to see him working for US!
(Ummm... I need to add that although Mrs. Marsha really was there and really did tell speak to the group, she did not just talk specifically to me nor did she tell ONLY me to go home and blog about it... she told us all to, and I did. I am guessing that she did not even know I was there, because I was too scared to introduce myself. But my husband talked to her and told her what a great job she was doing and how well she spoke that the RNC.)
And to prove I was there, I stole this from My friend, Tiffany's blog.

Friday Friend
UPDATE: She said I could post her blog... and her baby girl is doing very well!
Today I am thinking a lot about a friend. She left her two boys at home yesterday and got on a plane to China to bring her little girl home (I would post her blog, but I did not ask permission). Her daughter has a heart condition and basically, putting it in blunt truth, was told she should not have survived to this point. There are countless things wrong with this precious baby's heart. Charlie and Leslie are faithful in answering the call to bring the daughter that they feel God has placed in their lives home to Nashville to one of THE BEST Children's Heart Hospitals in the Nation. Will you pray with me today that their daughter has the strength to fly home next week and that Charlie and Leslie will be surrounded with God's peace and protection?

I will also tell you that they spearheaded an adoption support group at our church, for the community. They are organizing an adoption dinner in November and Leslie has created an amazing website.

Circle!!!!
I was scared to send Eliza to school. I needed it, and I was with the thought that verbally, she needed it. Check this out... YAY Mrs. Faris!
(Don't make fun of my over excited "cause you learn words there" comment. I try to teach her words at home... I get nothing. She just nods and smiles at me.)

Allright... Allready!
Okay, okay... I know I did not ever post what gift we decided to go with. I do have video of her when she first woke up, the day it arrived and it was sitting there waiting for her to play with... but she was still half asleep and came to love on me and then got mad at Stella (the dog) for trying to get in on the love and WHACKED her. So, I decided not to post it.
Eliza loves her inside/outside kitchen set. She is still discovering things and playing with all it has to offer. The younger 2 boys really like it too. Callan donned the chef's hat waiting for Eliza to wake up the day it came, and begged me to go get her up. Silas is all about the grill. Eliza also got some play food for her birthday from her friend, S. It is the kind with velcro in it so you can cut it with a knife... BIG HIT! She is all about the cutting!
Anyway, here is my little chef.

And this cute 3 year old right here got a big boy haircut. I have cut it before and let it grow back out because he got Jones hair and it stands straight up. The shorter it is, the harder it is to get it to lay down. It just waves at you all day long. This is us trying out the gelled look.

¡Celebre!
Today is a day to CELEBRATE! My baby girl is two! This morning my emotions are all over the place. It is such an exciting day, and I am so happy to have this day to share with my daughter, but I am sad that she is growing up so fast. She is my baby, and I need her to stay that way.
On the other hand, my heart hurts. There is a lady in Guatemala today who is wondering what her daughter looks like, wondering who is taking care of her, wondering if she is loved. If I could catch a plane right now and run to her just to hug her, I would. I have researched writing her a letter, but the address she left is not valid and covers two or three towns. And even if I could write a letter, and translate it into Spanish (thanks to Ruth), it would have to be translated again into her native Mayan language and read to her. My heart aches that I cannot send her a picture of her BEAUTIFUL daughter, the gift she has given to me. So, today Marta I hope to honor you and the gift you gave me. Your face is etched on my heart and mind today. We share one of the most precious blessings I have ever received. Our daughter is loved more than words can express.
Thursday when I picked her up from school.

This morning... I sure wish I looked this beautiful when I first wake up.

Stay tuned for party pics.

Thursday's Thoughts
I am tired... I stayed up too late last night taking apart our bedroom because I jokingly told Brent that it would be nice if the paint fairy would show up and paint our bedroom/office/bathroom before we had company on Saturday. Brent called Tuesday, and three paint fairies showed up this morning, but they did not finish and I assume they will reappear tomorrow... I am still not sure. But, my bedroom is not sleep-able.
So, my house is torn apart. Eliza's birthday is 2 days away. We have a flower bed that needs mulch, food and drinks that have to be ordered, activities for the big kids planned, decorations need to be finished and hung, and I was dumb enough to think I could take on the task of making a cake/cupcakes myself (Angel if you are reading this... I REALLY wanted one of your cakes... just to see how wonderful it would look, but then I would hate to eat it). I really do not make cakes. If I remember correctly, I was in charge of icing a cake once at the Jones' house and both Barbara and Tracey giggled at my artistic interpretation of icing. It got smoothed out when I walked away.
Technically, I am making cupcakes, and I would show you a picture... but just in case they do not turn out like the picture, I want to surprise you. I have made one batch of cupcakes, I have one more to make... and a smash cake for Eliza. I think I will ice them on Saturday... if I have time. Both the boys have baseball games until about 1:30PM. I ordered Eliza a cupcake dress, it has not arrived. I ordered Eliza's birthday present. They said it would arrive today, it did not. I know it will all work out just fine no matter what happens, if none of the ordered stuff arrives and if the cupcakes are not even liked by the 3 year olds, but right now... I am hitting the freak out mode.
My spiritual gift is NOT hospitality. When it finally gets here and everyone arrives, I will be fine... but until then... ticking time bomb.
On another note...
This morning Silas looked at me and said "Mom, if anyone at school is mean to my sissy, I will get mad at them, or I will scare them." Is that not the sweetest thing ever? I know she is going to hate that he is so protective of her when she is 16 and he is just 17. But I hope he always loves her and protects her as much as he does now.
He also said on the way home while he was looking out the window at the trees blowing in the heavy winds. "Mommy, look! The trees are dancing." OH to be 3 again and see things for the first time.
I have some pictures to share of what Eliza looked like when I showed up today at school to pick her up. I laughed out loud! TOO CUTE. I will try to get them up tomorrow (while the cupcakes are baking).

And then there were... NONE!
What... when did this happen?
Today I took Silas and Eliza to Mother's Day Out. Many people did not think I would ever follow through and leave her at school. But I really feel like she needs it. She needs to learn how to communicate with things other than her standing "UH... UH..."... point and whine... or singing the Star Wars Theme (OH YES SHE DOES).
So, today off we went. Our pics are not the best. I did not realize the sun was so bright or that the wind was blowing... but here they are ready to go to school. Silas has been waiting for this day for weeks!

Thanks to our little buddy Micah, going to school is a breeze. They have been best buds since Nicole and I both revealed we were expecting at playgroup sitting at her kitchen table. We also have some more friends that were in our class last year that made the start of the new year an easy one for the kids in the class. Either Mrs. Anna is going to have it easy because they mostly know the routine and each other, or hard because they know the routine and each other =). Mrs. Anna said he had a great day. But then again she knows the Jones' boys well. Silas makes number 3 in our family to have her (and I do not know how many cousins did... I think 3) and she knows what tricks to pull out just for them!

Eliza seemed to drop off just fine. She fussed a little at first, but I was told that she had already stopped by the time I got to the door of the building. Mrs. Faris said that she did great, but that she had to sit in her lap during circle time and evidentally would not have it any other way. Hopefully she will learn quick that there are other kiddos in the class and not require so much attention.

I had a great day... got a few errands run for Eliza's birthday, and had a nice lunch with a cute guy at a local Asian Bistro. I did learn that I am going to have to plan my Tuesday's effectivly... because Thursday's I will be working at the big boys school and want to focus on them. So Tuesday is it for "ME TIME".

Mission Impossible!
Eliza and I had a Mommy & Daughter shopping day. (Callan and Silas spent the night at Nommie and Gandie's house and Baylor and Daddy went Dove hunting).

I had just a few things on my list. The most important being Eliza's birthday present, and her 2 year portrait dress. So, first thing we went to the mall. I hit Gymboree because they were having a sale and HAD to have a FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL EVER outfit (you will see it tomorrow I am sure). If I had no restraint, I would have bought the whole line... too cute! Then we ran down to Strasburg and got her a 2 year portrait dress. I love it. I have big portraits of the boys a 2 hanging in the foyer and they are wearing off white with a kaki stripe in the dressy button on shorts. So Eliza's had to match. I got her an "Ecru Bishop" with pearls and cream ribbon running through it. I LOVE IT! AND it was on sale (20%) AND I had a $10 off coupon.

I also scored some Mineral Veil for mom at the new Bare Essentials shop in the mall (just opened Friday) and got some Oils for my vacuum at The Body Shop (where I discovered that they help an Aloe Farm in Guatemala and support the families there...it made my day and made me cry).
But that is where my luck ended. My final stop for the day was going to be ToysRUs to grab Eliza's birthday present. I was still in a quandry about the best choice...kitchen or doll house. I went to the Kitchen section... THEY DID NOT HAVE A SINGLE, SOLITARY KITCHEN TO PURCHASE. What kind of place is this??? So I wandered to the doll houses again. When I watched a family carefully choose the same doll house I picked out for thier 4 year old, I decided that I needed to go with the kitchen, for now. So, I ran to Costco... closed. Stopped by Sam's... the only one they had was the SUPER DUPER, WON'T FIT IN YOUR OWN KITCHEN AT HOME, KITCHEN. Wal-Mart... no luck. So I came home and scoured the net again. Brent chose the Inside Outside Grill and I have seen it in person with a child playing with it so it was one of my top choices. But to order it from ToysRUs on-line cost only a mere $95.90 for shipping (and I asked at the store if they would give me a voucher for shipping since they did not have the item in stock... they said "HUH?" I said "Nevermind!!"). I kept my search going and found one here. They have Flat Rate Shipping for $7.95. The cost of the item was $10 more than at ToysRUs (because it was on sale at TRU) but since I was saving $87.95 in shipping, I clicked BUY and we now own (as soon as it gets here THURSDAY- they say) the Inside/Outside Kitchen set by Little Tykes. I hope she likes it!

Now my job is done... Daddy gets to put it together (and I hear it is a booger)
