We had our 9 month appointment today, and my little man has fallen off of the charts. And although he has lots of room to fall, I still got a little repremanded. His weight stayed the same and his height did too (from 6 month visit). My kids do usually slow way down at 9 months, they just usually keep on growing taller. Who knows... we will watch it and see. However, this is a first on the record books below the 50th percentile for any of my boys (He was only 42% in height). I think it is because he has been sick and on antibiotic. Time will tell.

9 months
I mean SERIOUSLY... I could eat him with a spoon!

Always keeping one eye open
We rarely see sister asleep. If anyone else is up, she is too. She hates to miss out on any action. The only time she typically goes to sleep is in the quiet of her room, alone (and even that does not always work).
This freaks Brent out a little and he was convinced that she was faking it for a while. She has always slept with her eyes a little open. I give you exhibit A (at 9 days old)

Exhibt B was Tuesday night. I had no idea this was coming. She was just finished telling me "I NOT SWEEPY". We have been going, going, going here lately and it is catching up with all of us!
You may not be able to tell it so much, but you could see her eye bouncing around in there doing the REM thing and it was freaky.

Not the best pics of my sweet princess. But we all know... they are even more angelic when they are asleep =)

Animal Day
Today Silas had Animal Day at school. To most this would just be a fun day to dress up, but Silas has been waiting for this day all year! And when I say ALL YEAR...I mean that once he realized who's class he was in for Pre-K, H knew that this day would come. Way back in September, he made me get the extra costumes out of the attic to go through. He picked out the bear costume, and it has been sitting at the foot of him bed (among all his stuffed friends) since then!7 MONTHS! He does not forget a thing! My only fear was that he would put it on the morning and decide it did not work for him and he wanted something else. He stuck with it though... and makes the sweetest little growling bear.

Thanks coach!
Silas has a new friend.
Silas is playing organized ball this year and his coach gave them each a tennis ball and told them just to toss it around whenever, play with it at home, throw it up against the house, just play (because it improves hand/eye coordination and catching ability). What the coach did not know is that Silas takes this stuff very seriously! Coach even told them that he may ask for them to bring it to practice one day. So when he had practice on Monday night, and he forgot it, he made Brent go back to the house to get it. It has become a permanent fixture in our house...

Take me out to the ballgame... HERE WE GO!
Well, it is that time of year again- wait a minute... it is always that time of year. =) BASEBALL!!!
This year Baylor is playing for the 9U Nitro travel team, and has been playing with them since the fall. I am really proud of how hard they have worked and practiced. For many of them this is their first experience with playing by the 9U rules (everything changes at this age level) and they have quickly caught on and excelled.
In fact, this weekend was their first tournament. They won all four of their games and were deemed CHAMPIONS for the tournament.

***On a side note I need to add that as this is just all getting started, I have no idea how we are going to get it all in. All 3 of the big brothers are playing and (for example) all of them have somewhere to be this Saturday at 12:30 for baseball. It is going to be CRAZY!!! AND WHO PICKED WHITE UNIFORMS??? =)

Birthday Fun
In an effort to keep it low key, Silas invited his 2 best buds for a day of fun. We jumped and flipped for about 2 hours at JumpZone and then went and enjoyed the new Chick-fil-A (where I may or may not have taught the boys you can trade your toy back in for ice cream cones) before we headed home. There is nothing like best friends, and Nommie to share the day.

And who can resist this cuteness...both of them ;)

That's Callan!
So, as a parent, you hear for months that your child has an upcoming music performance at school. You get notes home on what they are supposed to wear and what time parents are to have their kids there. But only when you have a Callan do you find out the day of...
"Mom, do we have an umpire shirt, because I am an umpire in the performance tonight... and I need to take catcher's gear for my friend."
We worked out those details (after a call to the teacher) and headed out the door to the "show". Only to then hear...
"My part is really easy, I hope I get it right and don't get nervous."
Yep that's right. He had a part (even though small) in the show where he yelled out the things umpires yell out during the show (without aid of a microphone). It is so funny. Our other (older, more OCD child) would have practiced for months and made sure that everyone was there to see the show.
Callan, honey... had we known that you were going to take center court and have a part, I promise we would have let everyone know. We are proud of you and love how the stuff that is a BIG deal to us, is "not so much" to you. Now if we could flip that around it might make life easier for when the BIG deal stuff to you (that sends you over the edge) is "not so much" to us.

The program was an original written by the Music Teacher. It was Wild and Wacky Weather and different songs portrayed the different seasons. Very cute!

I'M 5!
That is all this little man said this morning... and I mean at least 40 times. It was like he needed to convince himself, like it seemed too good to be true.

I wish it did not break my heart. I wish it felt good to Momma that he is 5... that he is about to go to Kindergarten and be more independent than I am ready for. I wish it did not make me sad to see him growing and changing everyday. Learning new things (even letters) and braving new adventures. But for some reason, this sweet, sensitive boy has his Momma wrapped right around her finger and I need a little more time with him just like he is. The kind of little boy who likes to wake up from nap and sit in Momma's lap for a little while, or likes to pretend (3 or 4 times) that I forgot the bedtime kiss just so he could steal another.
He is going to be his sister's best friend and protector. She is going to have a hard time without him next year. He will play whatever she wants and even told me today that I could use his birthday money to buy a princess game for HIS Leapster so they could play together. (Girls watch out... this one is going to be a keeper).
I understand him and his personality a lot more than the bigger boys, because he is just like ME! (both good and bad) He is a tender hearted boy, who sticks with what he knows (even if it is bologna and cheese-STILL), and faithful friend. He does not forget when you hurt him, but forgives and keeps on loving (even if from a slight distance).
God knew (in so many ways) what he was doing when he gave me THIS boy. My third son, my angel without wings, my love! Happy Birthday Silas, I LOVE YOU!
