First Day of School 2012

We are still homeschooling this year, but adding a tutorial 2 days a week at New Song Christian Academy. This kids are excited about this new adventure and so am I.  I think it will be the perfect balance of what we need in our homeschooling adventures.

Even though I held her out an extra year, I still cannot fathom that this beauty is starting Kindergarten. I am not sure I am ready!!!DSC_7317DSC_7319DSC_7322I pray this little man grows by leaps and bounds this year. He is most nervous about the “new” school, but then again he would prefer just to stay at home all day anyway.DSC_7323DSC_7324DSC_7325

This one is thrilled because he has buddies he knows well in his class. When I thought for a moment that I might only send Eliza and Baylor, this one had a case to present.DSC_7327DSC_7328DSC_7330

Littlest brother is not to be left out (notice he is copy cating Callan’s wall pose). He cannot wait for school!DSC_7331DSC_7333

MIDDLE SCHOOL???? I really don’t know if I am ready for this. I am personally still getting over my middle school years how can I send one into the fire? I am hoping New Song will be just what our family needs.

Cheekwood Treehouses

We spent a fun, beautiful, day with friends exploring the Treehouse Exhibit at Cheekwood (Nommie too but she did not make any photos). The kids had a blast and it was fun to see what the artist came up with.DSC_7286DSC_7287DSC_7288DSC_7289DSC_7292DSC_7293DSC_7295DSC_7296DSC_7298DSC_7299DSC_7301DSC_7303DSC_7305DSC_7306DSC_7314DSC_7315

The year before we hit TEENS!

Honestly, Baylor is an easy kid. I don’t think the kid has had a real birthday party since his 5th “boys rule” birthday where only boys were invited (except for mom because “someone needed to cut the cake”). I believe that his love language is quality time. All he ever asks for on his birthday is to do something with someone he loves. Typically his choices have been going to Atlanta for a Braves game (which we have done 3 times for his birthday) and going fishing. As it so happened, we were at the beach for his birthday and Brent thought he would love nothing more than a little deep sea fishing. They set the alarm for 5 AM and off they went.photoI was a little worried when they headed off on their adventures because the sky looked crazy dark. But it was coming from the east and they were just far enough west to get out ahead of it in the ocean. However, Brent did say he was on the biggest swells he had ever seen.photo2The deck hand commented to Brent that he was the only father he had ever had on his boat that would get a fish on and hand the reel over to his son. Brent’s words “It’s his birthday, and he has never been before.” I know Brent enjoyed watching him reel it in as much as if he would have done it himself.photo3They caught lots of fish. Their list included Snapper, Triggerfish,  and Amberjack. Baylor caught the biggest fish on the whole boat.photo4I don’t think he could have gotten a better present. I just wish that I could have watched him on the boat too.photo5Next up for the birthday boy was his dinner request… Crab Legs. I don’t know if his eyes are huge from shock… or that saying “your eyes are bigger than your stomach”.

Happy Birthday, Nicolas Baylor. Every year you amaze us more and more. I love the young man God is creating you to be. Next stop, teenage years!

My marijuana plant

Just a few weeks before I went into labor with Cruz, my mom was here visiting and helping me to clean up my big burm flower bed. In it there was a strange plant that I was not sure what it was. Mom thought it looked like a marijuana plant, since I have never really known what it was… I have always called it my marijuana plant (I think it is some form of Hibiscus). Every year now it blooms around Cruz’s birthday and reminds me of those precious first days with a newborn baby, it reminds me of his life. Every year I also send my mom a text saying, “my marijuana is blooming again!”DSC_2913DSC_7152
